It is a new trend in ESL education. Parents are fast coming to realize that young learners are very tech savvy. Websites like Youtube and Facebook are a breeding ground for self made media professionals. They have no rules to follow and they are not afraid of media critics. They are simply demonstrating their observation of the world around them and they are becoming more widely viewed than mainstream media.
As a trained and qualified Television and Documentary Director I decided to put my students to the test to see if they liked to create media. And quite frankly they loved it. Check out this video below they produced it is brilliant. The director, the Presentor, the camera operator and sound operator as well as general crew all 13-14 years old students in my ESL class. The result was surprising to many, but not so surprising to me. After 17 years in this industry I know too well. Give them the tools and they will create.
