I find that group classes work very well as the students support each other and it is also a good way to bond and maintain endearing relationships.
In my years of teaching ESL I found one of the fastest ways to improve speaking and structure of complex sentences is Via Junior New Concept and it's Pattern Practice Philosophy. It's amazing how fast the students develop especially with a good teacher.
